She also works as a per diem autopsy technician for three local counties and is involved in the body donor program. In this role she serves as a liaison with families and helps manage the distribution of donated cadavers to medical and dental schools.
Sarah has a masters degree in forensic medicine and has a passion for teaching anatomy to medical and graduate students. She believes in chasing your passions and continuously educating yourself about different career paths.

Dr David Klimstra is a Pathologist, Chief Medical Officer and Cofounder of Paige. Today we will learn about his career path and motivation to become a doctor, and his interest in GI pathology. Dr Upreti is the author of From Specimen to Sign Out, Anatomic Pathology Explained, which aims to provide accessible and helpful information for health professionals, including junior pathology residents, as well as potentially benefiting patients. She discusses her experience and insights on the role of pathologists in multidisciplinary meetings, emphasizing the importance of communication and collaboration in these meetings, where pathologists can provide valuable insights and suggest further actions based on their access to information and ancillary tests. Dr Upreti also highlights the impact of clinical history on the diagnostic process and dispels the misconception that providing pathologists with too much clinical information may bias their diagnosis. She discusses the limited exposure to pathology in medical school and the declining number of medical students going into pathology, hoping that her book will help reverse this trend. Finally, she discusses the future of pathology education, focusing on technology, collaboration, and the potential of virtual reality in simulating pathology procedures and providing access to different types of specimens.

Dr Bilal Ahmad is the managing director of the Spectrum Healthcare Partners Pathology Division. He has been using digital technology for ancillary testing, such as TCPC FISH, flow cytometry, and IHC interpretation for many years. As a managing director, Dr Ahmad is now leading the digital pathology initiative and trying to steer the ship in the right direction. He believes that digital pathology is the future of pathology and sees it as an opportunity to fix many of the current issues and realize benefits that we may not even recognize yet. However, he also acknowledges that digital pathology is not a homogeneous entity and that there are many different types of digital pathology. Dr Ahmad recommends that pathology groups define their current state and what they hope to achieve before jumping to a solution with vendors and software.
